GECCO (German Corona Consensus) is a compact data set for recording COVID-19-relevant research data - from demographic data such as age, gender, height and weight to measurements such as blood pressure or laboratory values, risk factors, medication intake, symptoms and treatment methods. By using international IT standards, GECCO enables the interoperable processing of this data. To this end, GECCO relies on the HL7 FHIR standard for data structures and primarily on SNOMED CT and LOINC for terminology. There is also close networking with other initiatives and organizations, as the data set is based on the FHIR-based preliminary work of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), HL7 Germany and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV).
